Hospital Ward Manager (Registered Mental Health Nurse)

Salary: £45,000 - £50,000 depending on experience
Full time: 37.5 hours per week -(Monday to Friday ) with on-call duties
Hillview Hospital is a Low Secure CAMHS service that provides specialist support for young people with severe and complex mental health conditions aged 13-18 years
We are inviting applications for the position of a Ward Manager to join our Ward Team reporting to the Clinical Lead at Hillview Hospital. Hillview Hospital is the only Low Secure CAMHS unit in Wales. Set in the heart of Ebbw Vale, the service comprises of two wards (a admission and treatment ward (Brenin) and a transition ward (Ebbw).
The successful applicant will need to demonstrate high performance leadership skills in the day to day management of the Ward team. With responsibility for clinical and financial KPIs, the post holder will work with the Multidisciplinary Team to ensure positive patient outcomes and compliance with all legislative requirements.
It is essential that the applicant has:
A recognised degree/diploma level qualification in mental health nursing or HCP equivalent
Be registered with the Nursing Midwifery Council/HCP as per post requirements; full membership/accreditation of a professional institution
Evidence of Continuous Professional Development (e.g. specialist relevant courses)
Minimum of two years’ experience in a CAMHS Unit
Experience of working with children and young people
Experience in a supervisory capacity, responsible for professional/nursing staff
Specialist knowledge and understanding of mental health disorders in children and young people, and their impact on both the client group and their families/carers
Knowledge and understanding of relevant legislation and policies relating to children and young people (e.g. Safeguarding, HSF, Every Child Matters etc)
The post holder must have the Leadership skills and capacity to promote:
An excellent and high standard of clinical practice with excellent clinical outcomes
Patients health and well-being
Effective motivation, monitoring and management of the Ward team
Communicates delivery and outcomes of care to patients and to other members of the team
Develop excellent working relationships with key stakeholders
Effective controls to ensure that Key Performance Indicators and financial targets are met
