Registered Mental Health Nurse (RMN)


Salary: £38,000 -£40,000* (*£2,000 bonus payment option available upon start)

Full time: Average 40.25 hours per week - 2-week rota basis of 3 shifts one week and 4 shifts the next week (the rota includes days, nights and weekend working).


Hillview Hospital is a Low Secure CAMHS service that provides specialist support for young people with severe and complex mental health conditions aged 13-18 years


We are looking to recruit several Registered Mental Health Nurses to join the Ward Team reporting to the Clinical Lead at Hillview Hospital. Hillview Hospital is the only Low Secure CAMHS unit in Wales. Set in the heart of Ebbw Vale, the service comprises of two wards (a admission and treatment ward (Brenin) and a transition ward (Ebbw)).


The post holder will be responsible for delivering specialist nursing care and work to professional and regulatory body codes, standards and guidance at all times. They will ensure the correct administration of medication, including injections, and monitor the results of treatment and help young people manage their emotions through de-escalation techniques. They will prepare and maintain patient records and produce care plans and risk assessments whilst working alongside a multi-disciplinary team comprising of staff from Psychiatry, Psychology, Education, Occupational Therapy and Nursing.

The essential requirements for this role are:

  • Registered RMN

  • At least 2 years post qualification experience

  • Quality Management

  • Clinical Effectiveness

  • Direct Patient Care and Service

  • MHA 1983

  • Care and Treatment Plans

  • Children's Act 1989

  • Competent in the Care Programme Approach

Desirable skills and experience for this role are:

  • CAMHS experience

  • Evidence of continued professional updating

  • Diploma/ Degree

  • Knowledge of private sector issues, clinical trends and key nursing issues

  • Collaborative working in a multi professional environment

  • 6 months experience within an inpatient setting
